honored to be invited to collaborate with Keith Terry at the 2009 Body Music
Festival. We come together to demonstrate the interlocking clapping and drumming found specifically
in the tradional music of both Morocco and the Khaleej region (countries around the Arabian Gulf / Persian Gulf).

Afro-Peruvian performers of zapateo criollo - a unique style of syncopated hard shoe footwork that mixes African rhythms with Creole, Spanish Roma, European and indigenous Peruvian rhythms.
Normally danced to the rhythms of guitar, cajón and vocals, in neighborhoods where instruments were scarce, musicians and dancers perfected a vocal style simulating the guitar and cajón. The group will perform this full Body Music, with master dancer Braulio Barrera.

Manuia presents the beauty and excitement of traditional arts from the Polynesian Islands. Presenting the Fa'a Tau Pati, a men's slap dance, ridding themselves of mosquitoes, and Sasa, a seated form that rhythmically illustrates activities in daily life such as playing, ceremony preparation and canoe paddling.

Artistic Director of Crosspulse and the IBMF, Keith began his career as a jazz trap-set drummer. Inspired and encouraged by a generation of tap dancers that has since passed, Keith developed a singular, contemporary style of Body Music which he uses in collaboration with artists from Bobby McFerrin to the Turtle Island String Quartet and many more. Over 30 years he has developed a methodology used by performers and educators world-wide.

A Franco-American tap dancer and body percussionist, LeeLa is a choreographer, teacher and producer, and has been part of the European cast of STOMP since 2001. Artistic Director of the Hip Tap Project, a percussive dance ensemble which blends rhythm tap, hip hop, body percussion and live music, at the IBMF LeeLa is appearing solo.

Max merges authentic Afro-Cuban music and dance with American rhythm tap and body music to create RumbaTap. The originator of Cuba's first tap festival, he has been teaching and performing there since 1998, and has worked with Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Cuba's top-ranked Rumba group, among others.
