Bourask Dance Company | Canada WEB | VIDEO The company has been dedicated to creating percussive dance shows for the young and general public since 2005. Sylvie Mercier, artistic director, draws her inspiration from the universal expression of percussive dance while being well rooted in her origins. Human beings and nature are at the heart of her creations. The creations that follow Chantier (produced in 2003) show us how Sylvie Mercier has worked to build bridges between different percussive dance all characterized by a history of commitment and solidarity (Bataille des murailles, 2011; Squall, 2008; Bossbottes, 2005) In the last 7 years, inspired by the fruitful meetings of The International Body Music Festival (Brazil, Turkey, Indonesia, USA, Canada) and collaborations with First Nations artists, Bourask has created Corps et Être (2016), Asteur (2017) and is working on an in situ production: Fjord. These new experiences have enriched the company's creative line with strength, diversity and depth over the past 10 years, all the while establishing a strong reputation in the world's percussive dance scene. Bourask dance company has illustrated itself in the dance landscape by creating original productions, marked by memories and singular stories while maintaining a very contemporary signature. |
