Tasha Lawson / Katelyn Harris | Calgary, Canada WEB | VIDEO Tasha Lawson is the founder and Artistic Director of Tri-Tone Productions, a dance and live-music company. Tri-Tone creates and produces interdisciplinary performance works in the mediums of Body Percussion, Tap, and Contemporary Dance. Tri-Tone produces an annual Rhythm Body and Soul workshop and concert in Calgary, Canada. Ms. Lawson was a principal dancer for six seasons with Tapestry Dance Company in Austin, TX as well as the Artistic Director of apprentice company, Visions in Rhythm. She has performed and taught at numerous festivals in Canada, the US and Europe and has toured in the US and Tokyo, Japan as Assistant Artistic Director for Cirque Du Soleil's, KOOZA. Deeply inspired by the work of Keith Terry, Barbatuques and Max Pollock, Ms. Lawson has been developing work which transcribes Tap vocabulary and historical works into Body percussion since 2009. It is an honor to be sharing at the IBMF. Katelyn Harris grew up in Dallas, TX and is trained in many forms of movement including rhythm tap, classical ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, and hatha yoga. She was a principal dancer with Tapestry Dance Company in Austin, TX from 2006-2010 and has toured internationally with Tapestry in their production of "The Souls of Our Feet". Katelyn also works with Tasha Lawson's Tri-Tone Productions, a company that fuses body percussion, tap dance, and contemporary movement into unique works of art. She is currently co-directing The Drawbacks Youth Tap Ensemble, a youth company that provides students the opportunity to learn tap history, improvisation, and challenging technical skills and is laying the foundation for a new professional Tap Dance Company and non-profit organization, Rhythmic Souls. |
